The Beauty of Tallow in The Texas Heat
Why Heat Matters for Your Tallow
Let’s talk about something that’s super important for keeping your tallow goodies in tip-top shape - temperature! Our locally sourced Texas tallow is pure, natural, and totally free from fillers, stabilizers, and chemical preservatives. That means it’s a little more sensitive to heat than the big-brand moisturizers you might be used to. And honestly, that’s part of the beauty of it - you’re getting the real deal!
Just like real butter will soften or melt on a warm day, tallow responds to its environment. If you leave your jar in a hot car or somewhere warm, the texture will change. It won’t be bad, spoiled, or useless… it just won’t look or feel quite the same as when you first opened it.

Our Commitment to Quality & Local Sourcing
We’re proud to be a small, local business sourcing our beef fat from nearby farms in Jones and Taylor Counties. Every batch of tallow is rendered and whipped with care right here at home. While we work hard to keep our recipes and processes consistent, each jar has its own personality.
Sometimes you might notice a slightly different texture from one jar to the next.
The very bottom of your jar might feel a little different than the top - that’s just settling over time.
That’s the nature of pure, unprocessed skincare. No shortcuts, no stabilizers, just honest ingredients doing what they naturally do.
Why We Whip
We whip our tallow because it transforms the texture into something dreamy… light, airy, and oh-so-spreadable. Whipping incorporates tiny pockets of air, which give your balm that silky smooth glide you love. This makes it easier to apply, helps it melt beautifully into your skin, and turns your daily skincare routine into a little luxury.
Because this airy texture comes from natural whipping (and not from artificial stabilizers), it’s more sensitive to temperature changes. Exposure to heat can cause some of those little air pockets to settle out, so while your tallow will still be just as rich and nourishing, the texture may not be quite as fluffy as before.
Proper Storage for Happy Tallow
To keep your tallow looking and feeling its very best, treat it a little like you would a bar of good chocolate - cool and out of the sun. Store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight, and do your best to avoid leaving it in your car, on a sunny windowsill, or anywhere near heat sources. If your home gets extra toasty in the summer (hello, Texas heat), consider giving your tallow a spot in the fridge. This helps preserve that light, whipped texture you love for longer, so every application feels silky-smooth and indulgent.
What To Do If Your Tallow Gets Warm
Life happens - maybe your tallow got a little too much summer sun. Don’t worry! Your tallow is still packed with skin-loving vitamins and nutrients. Natural products have a little more character and charm because they’re not “perfect” in the cookie-cutter way. Every jar tells a story of simple ingredients, local roots, and the love we pour into our craft. And to us, that’s what makes it special. Below are some tips to revive your Texas tallow!
Chill Time
Pop it in the fridge to let it firm back up.
Give it a good stir before using.
The texture may no longer be as light and airy, but it will still moisturize and nourish your skin beautifully.
